Game One saw Jim Rooker earned his second win of the season as 6 Royal pitchers were needed to stave off the Tigers ina 9-8 win. Schienblum twice, Kirkpatrick and Mayberry all hit homers from the winners.In Game Two, 4 Tiger pitchers scattered 6 Royals hits as the Tigers tied the series with a 2-0 victory. Bobby Jones hit a homer for the Tigers.
The rubber match went ten innings before a winner was decided. Veach and Heilman hit solo homers for the Tigers but it was Lou Piniella's 10th inning double driving home Amos Otis that gave the Royals a 3-2 win
